Hi all!
I made my first digital board using Padlet!
Phew! Almost done LIBE 477! This is my first time taking a summer course while teaching full time and it was intense. As someone generally uncomfortable navigating technology, I have really stretched this term. At first I was intimidated at the thought of having to create an online resource, but in the end I really enjoyed the overall process. It was slow going figuring out how to share my assignment online. I spent some time learning how to make a website using WIX, watched a lot of YouTube tutorials, but in the end I decided that a digital board made more sense for what I was trying to achieve. I liked that all the posts on my padlet would be visible at once, making it easy for the user to scan over the page to find content of interest. I wanted it to be user friendly and easy to navigate. I played around with the application to learn how to use it and watched a couple of YouTube tutorials. I can see Padlet being a great tool to use with students.
As for the content of my assignment, I wanted to create a resource for teens, parents, and teachers around the topic of digital media and mental health and wellness. I wanted to highlight some of the problems with social media, as well as some practical ways to help protect our mental health when using social media. I included links to mental health resources for both parents and teens. I also included some resources that would be useful for teachers tackling issues around media literacy.
my Padlet enjoy!
